What Are Anti-Wrinkle Injections?
Anti-wrinkle injections are a safe and effective treatment used to soften lines that form from repeated facial expressions such as frowning, smiling, or raising the eyebrows. These lines are known as ‘dynamic wrinkles’ and over time they can become more noticeable even at rest.
The treatment uses a licensed muscle-relaxing medicine that temporarily reduces excess movement in specific facial muscles. This allows the overlying skin to rest, resulting in smoother skin and a refreshed, more relaxed appearance.
How Do Anti-Wrinkle Injections Work?
Anti-wrinkle injections use a licensed muscle-relaxing medicine that is gently placed into specific facial muscles. Once injected, the medicine temporarily reduces the signals that tell the muscle to contract. With less movement in the treated area, the skin can rest, allowing it to appear smoother while your natural facial expression is maintained.

Consultation
All anti-wrinkle treatments at Huderma require a face-to-face consultation beforehand. This allows us to fully understand your goals, assess suitability, and create a treatment plan that prioritises your safety and natural results.
Your appointment begins with a full facial assessment, discussion of your goals, and review of your medical history.
The Procedure
- Treatment time: 15–30 minutes
- Skin is cleaned and prepared
- Small, precise injections are placed into targeted muscles
- Discomfort is minimal and well tolerated
You can return to most daily activities immediately.
When Do Results Appear?
You will start to see softening within 7–10 days, with full results at 2 weeks.
How Long Does It Last?
Most areas last around 3 months, depending on muscle strength and individual response. More active areas such as the lips (lip flip), chin, and nose may last slightly less because these muscles move more frequently and require smaller, more delicate doses to maintain natural function.

Pre-Treatment Care
To ensure optimal results, please:
Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before treatment
Avoid ibuprofen/aspirin if possible (unless prescribed)
Arrive with clean skin (no makeup)
Postpone treatment if unwell
Inform your practitioner of all medications and recent treatments
Not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding.
Post-Treatment Care
For the first 4–6 hours:
•Avoid rubbing or massaging the area
•Avoid lying down
•Avoid makeup for 4 hours
For the first 24 hours:
•No saunas, hot yoga, strenuous exercise
•Avoid alcohol
A review appointment is available after two weeks if adjustments are needed.

Possible Side Effects
Minor, temporary side effects may include:
- Small bumps at injection sites (resolve within minutes to hours)
- Mild redness
- Light headache
- Temporary bruising
Less common:
- Asymmetry
- Eyelid or eyebrow heaviness (not common and temporary)
- Ptosis (rare and temporary)
