What Is Obagi Blue Peel Radiance®?
The Obagi Blue Peel Radiance is a medical-grade superficial chemical peel designed to gently exfoliate the skin and accelerate cell turnover with minimal downtime.
It is a salicylic acid–based peel, combined with other exfoliating acids, which helps to remove dead skin cells, unclog pores, and refine skin texture. This makes it particularly effective for improving dullness, congestion, uneven skin tone, and early signs of ageing.

What to Expect During Your Treatment
Consultation
Your practitioner will assess your skin, review your medical history, and confirm that the Obagi Blue Peel Radiance® is appropriate for your skin type and concerns.
Treatment Process
- The skin is thoroughly cleansed and prepared
- The Blue Peel Radiance solution is applied evenly to the skin
- You may experience tingling, warmth, or mild stinging — this is normal
- The peel is left on the skin and the sensation is allowed to settle naturally
- Cooling measures, such as a fan, may be used to improve comfort
- Once tingling subsides, calming and protective skincare is applied
Treatment Course & Expected Results
While improvement can be seen after a single peel, best results are achieved with a course. Many clients follow a plan of 3–6 treatments, with the first 2 sessions spaced 2 weeks apart, then sessions 4 weeks apart thereafter, depending on skin condition and goals.
Results build over time, with each peel refining texture, tone, and clarity further, especially for persistent unevenness, dullness, or mild photoageing.
Pre-Treatment Care
To prepare the skin and reduce risks:
• Avoid active skincare such as retinoids or exfoliating acids for 5 -7 days
• Avoid sun exposure or tanning for 7 days
• Avoid waxing, laser, or other facial treatments for 7 days
• Arrive with clean skin
• Not recommended during pregnancy or breastfeeding
Post-Treatment Care
Immediately After Treatment
• Mild redness, warmth, or tightness may occur
First 24–48 Hours
• Avoid makeup for 24 hours
• Avoid strenuous exercise
• Avoid heat such as saunas, steam rooms, or hot showers
• Use only gentle, hydrating skincare
Days 2–5
• Mild dryness or light peeling/flaking may occur – this is normal
• Do not pick or exfoliate peeling skin
• Apply SPF daily and avoid direct sun exposure
Up to 7 Days
• Avoid retinoids, acids, scrubs, or other active treatments
• Avoid waxing or laser on treated areas
Over the following days, skin gradually appears smoother, brighter, and more refreshed.
Safety
Possible Side Effects
Common, temporary effects may include:
- Redness or warmth
- Mild tingling or sensitivity
- Dryness or light peeling
- Purging
These typically resolve within a few days.
